The Krewe of the Caribbean Cowboys was formed by a very small group of friends in August 1998. These friends wanted to have fun, yet do something for the community that they lived in at the same time. The Krewe has chosen a non profit group called Angels Unaware as their primary charity because of it's commitment to the Tampa Bay Area & St. Pete. They are a group that provides care for the physically and mentally disabled ages 18 and up. We raise money by having several fundraisers per year that include everything from a Bead Blast, candy and tattoo sales to raffling tickets to major sporting events. When we have the opportunity we visit the Children's Ward at the hospital to hand out beads, toys and games. Each year we also try and raise money for different charities where our members see a need. This past year, 2006, we assisted in raising close to $6,000.00 so that 2 of our members could do the 3 Day 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer. We have also been part of the Shoreline Clean Up in the Bay Area, and plan on becoming even more involved in the community as we grow.
